25 Things You Should Know in 2025
Welcome to 2025! Have you made your new year resolutions, or are you still trying to figure things out?

Every year, I swear I'll finally conquer that mountain of… well, let's be honest, that mountain of excuses I build around actually getting fit. I tell myself to maximize the enjoyment that comes with the festive season, promising myself that I will hit the ground running with the ton of unfinished online courses. You know the drill: "I'll start tomorrow," "I'm too tired," and the classic "I'll just do it next week." It's like my inner couch potato has built a fortress of procrastination, complete with a moat of leftover food from the festive season and a drawbridge made of Netflix binges. So, this year, I'm making a pact with myself—no more excuses! I'm going to break free from the clutches of sedentary living and embrace the thrill of the chase. Wish me luck, dear reader, for this year, I'm finally going to "run" circles around my old habits and become the fittest version of myself (or at least, survive that upcoming hike without collapsing in a heap).
We all have various goals for the year; regardless of your beliefs about the new year, try these 25 things this year and come back to thank me later.
Here are 25 things you should know in 2025.
Personal Growth
Learn One New Thing Daily: It could be a fun fact or a new skill; keep growing daily. You will be surprised at how much knowledge you have gathered by the end of the year.
Set Weekly Goals: Break those really big tasks into smaller and manageable goals. It makes them a lot easier to achieve.
Read More Books: This is one thing I know I will be trying out this year. Choose a topic that interests you and you enjoy that book. Think of it like a workout for your brain.
Practice Gratitude: Write down three things you’re thankful for each day. Make this your daily ritual.
Declutter Regularly: Organize your space regularly to create a clean and organized environment. This would help you enhance your focus and maximize your productivity level.
Health and Wellness
79% of 2024 New Year's goals involve improving health.
Drink More Water: The need for this can’t be overemphasized. Staying hydrated is one of the simplest ways to feel better.
Move Daily: Recent studies show that staying in one place for too long can increase stress, reduce creativity, and negatively impact physical health. Even a 10-minute walk can greatly affect your physical and mental health.
Get Enough Sleep: I understand the struggles of life, but health they say is wealth; however, wealth isn’t health. Prioritize at least 6-8 hours of quality rest each night.
Try a New Healthy Recipe: Spice up your life—literally! Try a new healthy recipe and prove to your taste buds that eating well doesn’t mean eating boring.
Take Breaks from Screens: Take a break from your devices to rest your eyes and mind. Health experts recommend regular breaks from screens to reduce eye strain, improve focus, and prevent digital fatigue.
Work and Productivity
Organize Your Day: Use a planner or an app to structure your time and focus better. I’ve personally used Google Tasks and Google Keep Notes. Organizing your daily activities helps you get off to a great start and yields a good amount of productivity for that day.
Learn a New Skill: Consider learning something new that excites you—maybe coding, design, or a new language.
Say “No” More Often: I have heard a couple of people say that they find the act of saying ‘No” the most difficult thing to do. Well, this is something we should all learn how to say. Respect your time and energy by not overcommitting.
Ask for Feedback: Constructive criticism is always important, especially when you are providing services to others. It’s a great way to grow and improve in your work. This is why you shouldn't forget to leave me feedback after reading this.
Take Mini Breaks: Short pauses during work can keep you refreshed and focused. I mean, if you don’t take care of yourself, who will?
Relationships
Call an Old Friend: Are you still in touch with your friend from primary school or maybe college? If you haven’t, then this is the sign you have been waiting for. Reconnect with that old friend today!
Spend Quality Time with Loved Ones: Remember, life is too short. It's the new year, visit your family and spend quality time with them. Even small moments matter.
Learn to Listen Better: Instead of always being the blabbermouth, focus more on listening and understanding instead of just responding.
Show Appreciation: If your love language is showing an act of service, then you are in luck. However, for others, let people know you value them through small acts of kindness.
Join a Community: Find a group that shares your interests and grow together.
Finances
Track Your Spending: Pay attention to where your money goes. It is the first step to spotting waste, staying in control, and saving more for the things that matter. Knowing where your money goes helps you save more.
Start a Savings Habit: This is also something I want to be intentional about this year. If you are still pondering where to begin, just start somewhere; no amount is too small. Even small amounts add up over time.
Invest in Yourself: There is no greater investment than the personal kind. Investing in new courses, books, or experiences that help you grow is worth it.
Plan for Emergencies: Unbudgeted expenses can be the worst. However, a wise man once said, "The best time to save for a storm is while the sun still shines." Build a small fund for unexpected expenses today to avoid surprises.
Treat Yourself Occasionally: Above all, nothing beats spoiling yourself after achieving your set goals. It could be a solo date, shopping, or rewarding yourself with a gift, as long as it is within your budget. There should be a balance of saving and enjoying the fruits of your hard work.
Conclusion
These 25 habits and ideas are all about helping you create a more fulfilling and balanced life in 2025, achieving whatever ambitious goal you set for yourself. Will I succeed? Who knows! Maybe I'll conquer that elusive "master of productivity" status; maybe I'll simply manage to avoid burning noodles again. But regardless of the outcome, you should embrace the journey. According to a 2024 study, you’re not alone in your quest for self-improvement. While a significant portion of us are already off to a strong start, keeping our resolutions on track, the journey is rarely linear. There will be setbacks, there will be temptations, and there will be days when we want to throw in the towel. But remember, the true measure of success isn't about reaching the summit of perfection, but about the effort, the learning, and the small victories along the way. So, let's raise a glass (of water, of course!) to a year of growth, resilience, and maybe, just maybe, a little bit of self-compassion. Happy New Year!
